Married for 32 years and the father of Matt, husband to Gail, accompanied by our doberman pal Bailey and living near Charlotte, NC.  I grew up on a farm in North Carolina and learned to respect the farmer and their endless days of hard work.  It didn’t take long for me to realize that farming was not for me!

I started my sales career after college, which seems like a lifetime past, and 32 years later I still love the marketing and sales experience.  I have experienced success in B2B sales in the office products industry, and related industries because I have been fortunate to be surrounded by a lot of really intelligent people that took the time to share their knowledge and experiences.  My success is due in part to all these wonderful people, some of whom I still work with and the many others that I have a lot of respect and admiration for.  I have richly blessed with a wonderful family that has always been supportive and encouraging.  Sales and marketing continue to evolve and selling in the OP (office products) industry is very challenging for the independent dealer channel to which I work.  I am currently the Marketing Manager/Sales Manager for a large independent commercial dealer so I experience the every day the challenges that we face.  To that end I decided that a blog to discuss issues and tactics in our industry may prove a useful way to share information with other dealers and sales people.  I don’t have all the answers nor do I believe any one person does.  However, I do believe that by sharing each others successes and failures we will demonstrate how to succeed and have fun in this industry.  Take a moment and reply to a post and share your wisdom with us.  Have a blessed day!

I will state up front that I lean heavily toward the independent dealer channel and for many reasons.  Most of which will become clear in the postings here.  I am also a devoted Christian.  The principles and ethics to which I work and strive are created around a Christ centered life.  I encourage you to share your thoughts and experiences and how you have succeeded in sales and the tools you use to help you stay motivated and informed.
